Don, aka 'Spike,' is a member of the volleyball coaching staff at Greely HS and is currently directing the Junior Varsity program. He attended the University of Rhode Island on a track scholarship, graduating with a degree in Business Administration. After a career of over 25 years in the insurance industry, Don returned to school to attain his teaching certification as a high school math teacher and is currently teaching math at Greely HS.
“The focus of camp is for the players to have fun in the sand, sun and water while improving their volleyball skills,” Don emphasized. “Morning and afternoon sessions will incorporate working on the fundamentals of passing, setting, hitting, serving, and improving defense by learning to ‘see the game.’ Each session will also include lots of time for competitions and match play.”
Peter ("Coach") has been the head coach of men's and women's track and field at Bowdoin College since 1987, and has been running camps for over 25 years - serving as founder and director of the Bowdoin Summer Day Camp since 1989, and co-founder and co-director of the Dick Fosbury Track Camp. Coach earned a B.A. in English from Dartmouth College, and a master’s degree in educational administration from Stanford University in 1980.
Steve Slovenski, director, lives in Nashville, TN with his wife Courtney and their son, Sawyer. He teaches high school math, physics, robotics, and engineering at USN. Steve graduated from Princeton University where he founded a club for dodgeball, laser tag, and other active events. Steve has a Masters in Education from Vanderbilt University and has been teaching and directing Slovenski Camps since 2010.
Also goes by 'Camp Mom', Dugan is a mother of three boys. She is "outnumbered, but not outsmarted". She earned a B.A. in History from Stanford University in 1980, and a public teacher certification from Bates College in 1985. She is an experienced SAT tutor and former high school math teacher.
Paul is the assistant athletic director at Noble HS in Maine. Paul has years of experience supervising waterfront activities to ensure maximum safety. He graduated from Bates College where he was the Captain of the Track and Soccer Teams
Dave Slovenski, program director, is a graduate of Princeton University where he held the Ivy League Pole Vault record and ran the school dodgeball tournament. Dave coached track & field at the Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute before teaching math, physics, and robotics at Choate Rosemary Hall and then Franklin Road Academy. When he’s not at camp, Dave lives in Nashville, TN with his wife Ieva.
