Hi! My name is Persephone and this will be my second year as a counselor! My favorite thing to do at camp is kayaking to the beach and my favorite food that they make are s’mores brownies! I also love campfire- all of the fun music and competitions make it pretty much the highlight of the day! I’m so excited to be working here this summer!
I have loved Slovenski Camps ever since I first walked down the main road back in 2012. Between all the friends I made and the valuble life lessons I have learned, I owe many wonderful summers to Slovenski Camps. I particularly enjoy gaga ball, but I am always happy to play any game involving battle rockets, swords, and anything in between. Even after going to camp for so long, it will never become old in my eyes! There will always be a special place in my heart for Slovenski Camps!
I first attended Slovenski Camps as a cross country camper and have been coming back ever since. If I am not leading a group of cross country campers through the trails, I enjoy taking campers on kayak trips around the island.
My name is Kronk and I have been working at camp for around two years but was a happy camper for two years before that. I love Panther Pond and the endless activities. I help out with Pole Vault and am always excited to meet new people.
This will be my third summer working at camp and I could not be more exited for nights by campfire. I spend most of my time with the cross country camp, which the peninsula's lakeside trails are perfect for. I also love playing jungle pong and eating ice cream from the Mosquito.
I first came to camp in 2013 for the Sand Volleyball Camp. Some of my favorite camp activities include volleyball and canoeing. I love working at camp because I get to live on the lake and meet so many wonderful new people every summer!
I first came to Slovenski Camps five years ago, after my Dad told me about a camp he found online so good I was sure he was making fun of me. Fortunately for me, he wasn't, and I have enjoyed running the trails and eating nutritious dining hall food ever since, which helps me train for my Cross Country Season at Ohio Wesleyan University. Having been a counselor for the past two years, I love working with the campers to improve both physically and mentally, and to develop new skills.
Summer of 2019 will be my seventh year at Slovenski Camps: my fourth year as a counselor after three years of being a camper. This camp is my home away from home and one of my favorite places to be in the world. The environment is always so positive and energetic and I can't think of anywhere I'd rather be in the summer.
I first came to Solvenski Camps as an A Capella camper in 2012 and then joined the staff in 2014. In the past, I worked at Stevens Brook Elementary School (K-5) as a Literacy Interventionist Ed Tech. I am a graduate of the University of Maine with a BA in Mass Communication and minors in Theatre and Spanish. The thing I love most about camp is how once you get there, you are able to escape from the distractions of the rest of the world by becoming completely immersed in nature.
Hello! This is my third year as a counselor after four years of being an a capella camper. So many options to choose from but I love singing at campfire, making friendship bracelets but most of all spending time with the campers and getting to know them. The friendships I made at camp are some of the strongest I have and I hope your camper has that experience as well. Slovenski Camp is my home away from home and I am beyond thankful that I get to spend my summer working on Panther Pond.
I first started coming to Slovenski Camps in 2012 and I've been coming back ever since! I love seeing old friends and making new ones, as well as spending time outside, in nature and on the lake. I enjoy many camp activities such as friendship bracelets and kayak trips, and having the opportunity to meet new campers. I couldn't imagine a better place to spend summers.
I first went to Slovenski camps when I was about eleven years old. I began at the Athena Girl's Camp and then went onto the Track and Field Camp as I progressed through the years. My favorite camp activity was swimming in the lake and paddleboarding out to the mini island. My favorite camp food is the yogurt and fruit that is served in the morning. One of my favorite parts working as a counselor is the annual camper vs counselor Man-Hunt game, which is always one of the highlights of the week.
Hey, I’m Spider-Man. I am a second year counselor here at Slovenski Camps and a former camper as well. I am a student/athlete/musician being primarily a hockey and tennis fan while being a trumpet player. At camp I enjoy Gagaball and anything with dodgeballs to be completely honest. My Favorite meal here is whatever has pulled pork and rice, very exciting. I love talking to campers and getting to know them on a personal level and try to help them have a great time and become a better people.
I started working at camp last summer and instantly fell in love. Playing manhunt at the end of the week with campers is always a fun time. Eating a nice breakfast of eggs and sausage is the perfect way to start off a day at camp.
I first started coming to Slovenski camps in 2014 when I was 11 years old. I'm a big fan of the good and activities here, as well as the amazing people (both counselors and campers) that I get to see every year! Returning to camp is always something I look forward to, since I love participating in all the activities with such great people, and I'm so excited that I have the opportunity to work at Slovenski as a junior counselor this year!
I first came to camp in 2017 and this is my first year as a counselor. My favorite camp activities are Gaga Ball and friendship bracelets! One of my favorite aspects of camp is the friendships that are made and the positive environment all around. Camp gave me so many new friendships with people who I probably would never have met without coming to camp!
I first came to camp two summers ago, for a week after being a counselor at the Bowdoin Day Camp. I instantly fell in love with Panther Pond and the camp design, and signed up for two full summers here. My favorite activity is colosseum ball, mainly for the foam swords and epic battles that unfold. My favorite camp meal is the stir fry with teriyaki sauce. I love the absurd amount of creative materials provided for the campers that make the activities fun to spectate while running them!
When I first came to campin the summer of 2018, I wasn't sure what to expect, but I was thrilled at what I found. It's such a classic summer camp, with the open-air cabins, campfire songs, awesome beach and canoes... but it's way more than your basic American summer camp. I've really learned a lot and had some great experiences at camp, and Chinese Scatterball was certainly one of the most fun activities for me. I'm thrilled to be a counselor, and can't wait for the campers to get here!
I'm Fezzik! When I was a camper, I fell in love with the traditional camp style: living on beautiful Panther Pond, sleeping in the wooden cabins, and the nightly campfires all came together to form the perfect summer camp experience. I'm so excited to come back for my second year as a counselor at Slovenski Camps.
I first came to camp the summer before fourth grade and have attended the dodgeball and cross country camps for six years. My favorite activity is always something with battle rockets and the evening sessions of capture the flag or manhunt are a blast. The camp food is always delicious, and the bread rolls they serve with meals are fantastic. I always look forward to coming to camp because it is so easy to meet new people, the staff are always welcoming, and it feels like a second home to me.
I first came to dodge ball in 2015. After hearing so many of my classmates tell me stories of how great it is, I decided to see this for myself and attend camp that coming summer. I am happy to say that the stories are true, from the friendly and helpful staff, to the daily activities such as Scatterball and Handball. The delicious and healthy meals were always my favorite way to start and end the day, especially the mashed potatoes.
This year will be my second year as a counselor at Slovenski Camps, last year was a fantastic experience! I am so excited to see old and new faces and looking forward to more fun activities like friendship bracelets, water games and more!
Hello, my name is Atlas. I first came to Panther Pond in 2014 for the Dick Fosbury track camp. My favorite activity at Panther Pond, when I wasn’t at track sessions, was beach newcomb. Another thing I really enjoyed about my camp experience when I was a camper was the quality of food and the overall morale of the staff. Panther Pond is great if you are looking to make new friends and new memories all while experiencing nature first-hand.
This is my second year as a counselor at Slovenski Camps. I love partying hard on party island and running chaotic games of dodgeball. If there's one thing you should try out at camp, it's Dugan's famous coleslaw. As the founding member of the Friday Night Jazz Service, I take great pride in supplying campers and staff their weekly dose of sweet, melodious jazz. From swing classics and Bebop staples to more experimental, contemporary tunes, there's something for everyone's unique jazz craving.
I first came to Solvenski camps when I was 13 while doing the Dick Fosbury Track Camp, and then I went on to do Athena for two years. The fun atmosphere of going to a classic camp on the lake was what I enjoyed most in the summer. My favorite activity as a camper was definitely Gaga Ball, but a chill evening Beach Newcomb game was always fun. As far as food goes I am a breakfast person all the way, and the granola and yogurt are always my go-to in the morning.
Over the years I've spent several weeks at Slovenski's dodgeball and windsurfing camps. When I first came to camp, dodgeball and similar activities were all I wanted to do but I soon became more interested in sailing and other water sports. Pancakes are and always will be my favorite meal at camp and windsurfing on the beautiful lake on a windy day has to be one of my favorite camp activities right next to sailing on the even more windy days.
The first time I came to camp was in 2013, I was 10 years old. As a camper, I've loved swimming in the lake, playing gaga ball, pole vaulting and campfire every evening. The meals are incredible, my favorite being the stir fry. I love camp because it's a beautiful place to get connected with nature and have fun playing games outdoors. I love all the people I meet here, both campers and counselors, and I'm very excited to be coming to camp as a junior counselor this year!
I first came to Slovenski when I was 8, and this is my first year as a counselor. I went every summer for 8 years and with every visit brought new fun. I was obsessed with this game called, Gaga Ball, as I had no other place to play it besides at camp. As for food, I used to always look forward to the desserts they made, and everyone would get so excited when they heard them called out. But what I love the most about this camp, is everyone’s kindness, as it was always so refreshing to see.
I first came to camp in the 4th grade, and have been going there every year since. I've participated in both the dodgeball camps, and windsurfing camps, which has lead me to try almost every camp activity. Personally, my favorite would have to be the weekly, camp-wide Friday night man hunt game, where the campers are pitted against the counselors. It's a ton of fun, and I think it shows the great relationship that the counselors have with the campers.
I had first heard about Slovenski Camps from a few friends of mine at school. The following summer I went and I had so much fun. The activities are very fun and creative and each activity is very engaging. No matter what each camper likes to do, there is always an activity for everyone. The food each day is always amazing. Campers can always find something they'll enjoy eating during the morning, afternoon and night. Campfire is especially fun, as the evening songs help campers make new friends.
This will be my first summer working at Slovenski Camps and I can’t wait. Last summer, I enjoyed attending the Dick Fosbury Track Camp as a high jumper. My favorite food has to be either fried chicken or coffee ice cream. I’m looking forward to helping out with the cross country team and other activities like wood working.
This will be my 2nd year working as a counselor at Slovenski Camps. I love the different activities during the day like Kayak trips and friendship bracelets. I look forward to campfire every night, where we all sing and dance together. The food is very good and I really enjoy the oatmeal every morning!
Having just graduated from Bard College, a liberal arts school in New York, I decided to come work at Slovenski's camps as a windsurfing and sailing instructor. My father and two uncles were here over 40 years ago as campers and counselors when this place was called Camp Hawthorne!
When I first came to Slovenski Camps at the end of last summer to work as a counselor, I knew that this was a special place where campers learn character values and can freely be themselves. My favorite activities at camp are battle rockets, bunny kingdom, and running up the coastal trail of “Mount Doom.” My favorite camp meal is chicken nuggets and ice cream sundaes. I am so "happy" to be back for another amazing summer!
My first year at camp I was in cabin Atlantis! I did the SAT prep camp and had a great time. My favorite activities at camp were windsurfing and swimming, and my favorite camp meal was french toast for breakfast. Camp is such a positive environment; there are so many activities for campers and so many friendly people.
This is my first time at Slovenski camps. My favorite activity that we offer is Scatterball.I just love to see the kids have a great time being outdoors! The lake view is breathtaking.
This is my first year being a counselor at Slovenski Camps. Getting to bond with the campers during Jazz Night and our games is an amazing time. I love working with the campers and doing the games during campfire!
